Exploring Christianity: Alpha

WHAT IS ALPHA?

ALPHA is an opportunity, in a welcoming and informal group setting, to examine questions about life and faith in light of the claims of Jesus. ALPHA is a 11 session course being offered world wide primarily through Christian churches. Millions have participated.

WHO IS ALPHA FOR?

ALPHA is the right place for those who are asking life’s hard questions. It is the right place for those who know something about Jesus but want to know more. And it is the right place for those who are curious to know what Christians believe.

WHAT HAPPENS AT AN ALPHA MEETING ?

ALPHA is proof that it is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time. ALPHA meets once a week, on Monday evenings, for eleven consecutive weeks. The order of events is always the same … an informal meal that begins at 6:30 p.m. (suggested donation, $5); a short time of worship; a video presentation; and finally a small group discussion. All this is completed by 9:15 p.m.

WHAT IS THE ALPHA RETREAT?

After the 6th session there is an all day, Saturday, retreat. There in an unhurried setting, the course focuses on what Jesus meant when he offered us his Holy Spirit. In addition to meals, videos and discussions, there is time for fun and personal reflection.
