Brian and Jennifer Campbell welcomed their sons Christopher and Isaac into the world on February 2, 2008, nearly four months premature. The boys were given little hope for survival and the doctors encouraged these newly-married first-time parents to “take them home, make them comfortable, and take lots of pictures.” They flatly refused to accept that diagnosis, and instead, opted to trust in the mercy of God. Thanks to a miraculous healing touch of the Lord and an astonishing display of parental devotion, Christopher and Isaac are approaching their third birthday. In that brief time, the boys have undergone over a dozen operations, numerous hospital stays and trips to the emergency room, countless sessions of physical, occupational and speech therapy, and hundreds of anxious nights.   While both boys (especially Isaac) face serious medical challenges, they continue to fight for the future God has planned for them.

One of the positive things that have come from this trial is my friendship with Jenn. Her extraordinary responsibilities leave little time for typical friendship building experiences, but the more I get to know her, the more amazed I am by the grace in which she operates. Her perpetually positive attitude and infectious sense of humor are inspiring to me and everyone who is honored to know her.  The level of adversity she and Brian have faced during their short time of marriage is bewildering and often leaves them exhausted and overwhelmed.   Yet, time and again, I’ve watched Jenn press on with the determination of a loving and devoted mom who longs for that one simple thing we all treasure: to live a normal life together with our family.

When I learned of Jenn’s recent fall down the stairs and subsequent injuries (she broke both wrists and a knee), I was in disbelief. How could so much happen to one family? Even the ordinary task of holding her boys and changing their diapers has become impossible for her. It all seems like too much for one mom to bear.  The Lord encourages us to carry each other’s burdens, and many are already doing this through various expressions of love and support. But we can do more.  Let’s liberate the Campbell’s from their debilitating financial burden. Join us on Saturday, November 6th at the Woodbridge Country Club to celebrate and support the Campbell family. All proceeds will go directly to Brian and Jenn to help defray their staggering medical bills and give their family peace and hope for their future.  On behalf of the Campbell family, please accept my sincere thanks and appreciation for your generous love, prayers and support!
