It’s time for our 3rd annual Celebrate Mount Pleasant on Saturday, June 4th and boy I’m I looking forward to see what God has in store!! Last year was filled with Gods presence as we planted flowers, painted a mural, watched Big L teach the bible with the kids, got a great start to a baseball field, enjoyed time with the Rock Cats and so much more.

Mount Pleasant is a low income housing community in New Britain that has been on the hearts of many folks at Wellspring for a number of years. This particular event is all accomplished in one day, but there is a lot more that goes on throughout the year. Check out Big L if you want to learn more.

Our goal at Mt Pleasant is not to take it over as a church, but to work with the residents side by side to help them make their community a better place and give them  hope by showing them that Jesus loves them. It’s not about the physical acts that we do, but showing the love we have for them and that there is hope through Jesus Christ. 

One of the greatest reports we’ve had over the last couple of years is that you can’t tell who is from Wellspring and who lives at Mount Pleasant. When you see over 300 people getting dirty and working together, it’s pretty cool. God doesn’t see us as 2 different cultures or kinds of people. He see’s us all as son’s and daughter's.

For all this to be accomplished we need your help. Here is a list of all the items we hope to accomplish that day......  

• Finishing the baseball field
• Painting a mural (a really BIG mural)
• Planting flowers and shrubs around the area
• Planting flowers at residents homes
• Cleaning up and doing repairs on the play ground area
• In stalling a new play ground piece of equipment
• Repairing gutters
• Sprucing up the circle area from the first year (weed removal & re-mulch)

The day will start at 7:45am and should end around 4pm. There is no age requirement, so feel free to bring your kids and make it a family day. Just be prepared to work, have fun and enjoy watching God at work and feel His presence!

To participate please sign up on the Wellspring web page, Crosscut Ministry Facebook page or come to the table set up in the cafe at all 3 service’s the weekends of May 15th and 22nd. Please state what your preference is to work on and we will do our best to honor you request. After you sign up you will get more info in the weeks to come.

I’m really looking forward to watching God work on this day and seeing what grows after that throughout the year. Hope to see you there!
