Healing of Barrett's Esophagus - 1/25/12

In May of 2010 I had an upper endoscopy due to many months of severe stomach pain, heartburn and refluxing. The results were scary. I was diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus. This condition is a build-up of cells at the base of the esophagus. These cells are pre-cursor cells to esophageal cancer. Adherence to a strict diet can slow the progress of these cells, but there is no cure.

I learned to follow and despise this diet, and did cheat on occasion. I took my medication to minimize the refluxing. And mostly, I prayed.

Many times when I am worshiping, I will feel a wave of heat enter my body, and my hands will become hot. When I feel this power surge through me an image of a person or a problem will enter my mind and I will feel directed to allow the energy in me to flow out towards that image.

Around September of 2011, I reluctantly booked my follow-up endoscopy for November. That week during worship I felt that sensation enter my body, my hands became hot, and I saw only myself. I was puzzled, but the image continued. I felt selfish, but I ignored that feeling and kept my right hand raised to God and placed my left hand on my stomach. It immediately felt warmer. Week after week, during worship, this continued. Week after week, I repeated the same thing and prayed for healing for myself.

On November 5th, I had my endoscopy. The doctor came to my bedside afterwards and said, " I can tell you have been taking you medication and following the diet because the Barrett's cells appear thinner." I was groggy but pleased. Two weeks later, I received the doctor's surgical report with the results of the biopsies taken from the same area as in 2010.

I was nervous, but opened the thick envelope. In the doctor's own handwriting, was written, " There is NO !!!! Barrett's Esophagus noted. Biopsy results show NO Barrett's Esophagus." It went on to explain that my condition was completely changed, and was only an allergic reaction to foods (which I have known about for years) called Eosinophillic Esophagitis. I still need the medication for the refluxing for now, and need to avoid all foods that aggravate this condition, BUT the threat of cancer is gone !!!

I continue to have The Spirit work through me at times, and I am no longer afraid to pray for my own healing.
