Student Ministries

The Student Ministries are for those in grades 7-12

Youth Group is on Wednesday nights 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.
at Wellspring Church.

During July, we still meet on Wednesday nights, but at Walnut Hill Park (near the Tennis Courts), from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm.  Rainy days we will meet at "The Space."

Philosophy of Ministry:  “Relationships Transform Lives.”  The purpose of the Youth Ministry is to call students into a deeper walk with God.

In Genesis 1:26 we read that God says, “Let us make man in our own image.”  In that verse we see God’s relationship with himself, and his desire not only for relationship with his creation, but to also have good relationships reflected in his creation.   Our relationships with others are, by design, the greatest influences in our lives.  Our desire is to strengthen the positive relationships in student’s lives, thereby building up the positive filters and influences for the countless decisions they face.

Relationships – what we seek to build.  We want to see the students develop and deepen their relationships with God, with the youth leaders, and with each other, in order to strengthen their relationships with their families, friends and communities.

Community – what we seek to develop on Wednesday nights.  We want to develop relational connections that foster an environment of acceptance and belonging.  We seek to do this through “hang time,” game time, worship, teaching, and small group discussion called Life Groups.

Events – ways we seek to expand our community, and enlarge our vision.   Those that we host, promote and attend are carefully designed and chosen to create opportunities to strengthen and deepen relationships and community.

Student Ministries News

Like any other person, I go through my seasons of discouragement, and had recently been trying to pray my way through another one, laying my burdens at the cross. Usually resolve is sure to come, only this time it hadn’t. It wasn’t a matter of finding the right words, or praying in the Spirit, or even pressing into intercession or warfare; it was a call to worship.

Student Ministry News!

Tonight is a night of activation. We are taking the students that have just completed our Hearing God class and activating them in prayer ministry. This evening, we will have an extended time of worship while the prayer teams assemble and our students have the opportunity to come and be blessed in prayer. It is particularly powerful for students to bless their friends and peers with words that they receive for them from God. It also allows them a comfort level to participate with their peers and gain confidence that what they are hearing is accurate and encouraging.

Student Ministry News!

In Matthew chapter 25, we took a look at of God's favor. In the story of the talents that were given to servants as the master was leaving, there are many applications to the way God works and what He expects.
We see that He does not distribute His favor equally amongst all people. Although everyone gets a measure of grace, or favor, He gives more to those who have done more. He gives more to those who have shown themselves faithful to the process of using what they have been given.

Student Ministry News!

" I feel God here." This came from a sweet little girl who brought her mommy up to pray with our prayer team on Saturday night. I believe it represents exactly what God asked us to express while we were there.

Student Ministry News!

Last Wednesday, we had a wonderful testimony from Eric W.  Eric shared very clearly the importance that following after Christ has had in his life and how the decision to be "sold out" for God gave clarity, purpose, and direction for him. Eric is an excellent example for our students to follow. Our students were encouraged by and could relate to his journey.

Student Ministries - More Vibrations

Pray for this opportunity to be 'Vibrations of the Kingdom'  for our student ministries:

This weekend our student-led worship team has an opportunity to 'bring the Kingdom.' A former student, Stephen Switzer, is the worship leader at Lakeshore Baptist Church in Cicero, New York. Stephen has invited the youth band up for a night of worship and prayer this Saturday, February 25, at 6 PM.

Student Ministry News!

This week I shared with the teens a bit about my testimony which, when it comes down to it, is not very different from anyone else. We have all come from somewhere, survived some circumstances and arrived somewhere else.

Student Ministries News!

This past week we looked at one of the most intense descriptions that Jesus had ever given regarding the religious leaders. In Matthew 22, He alluded to them in parables and they eventually figured out that they were the bad guys in these parables. In chapter 23, Jesus clearly made them out as the hypocrites that they were.

Hartford Elevated!

The desire of the Hartford Project regarding the Elevate Hartford event was to increase the presence of God in the city of Hartford, to represent the presence of God through the unity of the churches, and to bring forth the ministry of God's presence through prayer and healing.  I believe all of these goals were accomplished. God's presence was growing in the atmosphere of South Church during the setup time on Sunday afternoon. The anticipation of what that presence could do and the potential to continue the momentum of what God is doing in Hartford brought chills to our bodies.
