In John 6, Jesus follows the feeding of the 5,000 with miraculous sign #5: walking on water. Although this well-known miracle almost serves merely as a transitional device in John's gospel account, the sign does point clearly to one very transcendent reality. Matthew 14:22-33 also recounts this miracle, with the twist of Peter also walking on the waves. What is the Lord saying to us from this wonderful faith sign?
